Iterating on a Southern African design passed down through the generations, we have optimised for comfort, durability and aesthetic. Made in our workshop in Woodstock, Cape Town.

Solid kiaat or beech wood, a cotton canvas padded seat and backrest, and a frame that folds flat. Made for camping, your stoep or the beach.

Series One

A numbered first run

Each chair is made by hand in our workshop, so we are building in small batches. Series One is a limited run, allocated in the order that people join the list — and the list is how we know how much timber and canvas to order.

Joining costs nothing now. When we are ready to start manufacturing we'll email you with the price, and your place is confirmed when you pay. No payment until then.

Frame
Solid hardwood — kiaat (Pterocarpus angolensis) or European beech (Fagus sylvatica)
Seat & back
Hard-wearing cotton canvas, in olive, navy or khaki (with more colours coming soon), and a foam padded seat
Joinery
Hand-cut traditional joints, pinned with hardwood dowels
Folding
Flat, in one movement — easy to carry and store
